In a typical Reiki therapy session, a Reiki practitioner will place his/her hands on or above a client, acting like an aerial to pass healing energy to the client. Reiki therapy involves the practitioner placing her hands above the client's chakra points (see 'About Chakras' in the menu above) encouraging energy to flow to the client's energy centres. Traditional Reiki sessions last roughly one hour, with approximately five minutes being spent on each chakra (8 areas on the front; 4 areas on the back). However, most Reiki therapists will adjust the time spent on various areas of the body as is required and is intuited by the therapist, and some like myself no longer turn clients over to directly access the back of the chakras. Check out the photos below of me and a friend demonstrating the positions back in 2009!
