About Chakras
There are many websites that have detailed information about the Chakra system. So below, I will only briefly introduce the concept of the Seven Chakra centre."Chakra" is believed to be the Sanskrit word translating roughly to "wheel" or "vortex". Chakras are commonly depicted as a spinning wheels of energy. Also, in the Hindu tradition, they are thought of as rotating flowers with petals that are widely opened . When a chakra's petals are not open or does not spin properly, it could mean that our body's energy channels are blocked and we could develop some kind of dis-ease. Dis-ease in this sense refers to any kind of malady, be it physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. It refers to an imbalance in our body, keeping it from performing to it's optimum level.
Chakras are connected by a series of 'meridians' which are energy lines similar in idea to how blood moves through arteries and veins. The meridians move vital energy throughout our body. Larger meridians run the energy vertically throughout our body, and smaller meridians (called nadis) criss-cross horizontally throughout our body, allowing energy to flow everywhere in our body.
